Late night with "Connie and Carla"

So here I am, twenty minutes to 3 AM and I'm not exactly sleepy. That darn nap earlier messed me up more than I thought it would!

BUT during my channel surfing I found Connie and Carla! I love this movie, please Wikipedia it or Google it or IMDB.com it or something. Find it in your local movie place and give it a chance. If I remember correctly, there were quite a few bad reviews for the is movie when it came out and I always thought they were unjustly given. I missed the movie when it was out in theatres and first caught it halfway through on the movie channels. The part I had stumbled upon was when Connie and Carla were running top of their drag-queen-but-not-really game singing Barbara Streisand's classic "Don't Rain On My Parade". And I FELL IN LOVE.

The entire movie is hilarious, cute, and heart-warming, with themes of acceptance and finding your independence. Any hardcore and casual fan of musicals and Broadway worth their salt has to see this movie. Kelsey Miller, you and me IN PARTICULAR have to see this movie, ESPECIALLY before Cabaret goes up.

On a more serious note, the thing that I love about Connie and Carla is that there are elements that remind me dearly of a few of my nearest and dearest friends. Reverberations of Priscilla: Queen of the Desert constantly show throughout the film, reminding me of you, Patrick! The creative drag costumes and, in particular, the beautiful "Maybe This Time" number that the pair-on-the-lam audition with remind me solely of you, Kelsey Miller!! And finally, Connie and Carla themselves, their tried-n-true friendship and perpetually spontaneous chemistry, I can't help but associate with Alyissa (my very recent divorcee, hahaha!!)

To end, I want to say that movies that hit you so completely and make you happy down to your core are hard to come by. You must seek these movies out, you have to find them and you hold them close. Don't let anyone tell you to love them any less.
